How to read funding rates

Perpetual futures never expire, so exchanges use funding payments to keep the contract price close to spot. When the perpetual trades above spot the rate is positive and longs pay shorts; below spot it turns negative. Extreme rates mean one side of the market is crowded.

Cross-exchange spread

The same coin can carry very different rates on Binance and OKX. The spread column is the gap between the two annualized rates — a rough guide for funding-rate arbitrage (long on one exchange, short on the other). Real returns are lower after fees and slippage, and both legs carry liquidation risk. The current rate swings a lot; the 7-day average shows whether a rate is persistent.
