What Are Binance Alpha Points? How They're Calculated, Claiming Airdrops, and Whether Farming Pays
On this page
Binance Alpha Points measure how active you are on Binance Alpha and Binance Wallet. They gate Alpha airdrops and some events (such as token generation events in Binance Wallet): you need a minimum score to claim, and claiming usually deducts points. Binance adjusts the rules from time to time, so this guide covers the long-standing logic — check Binance's official explanation for current numbers.
We have tracked 55 Binance Alpha campaigns — see the Binance Alpha page. Alpha trading competitions are covered in the Binance Alpha guide.
Where points come from
Points are calculated daily from two parts:
- Balance points: tiered by the value of your assets on Binance and in Binance Wallet; more assets earn more points per day.
- Volume points: based on how much you buy on Alpha that day. It isn't linear — volume has to roughly double to earn one more point.
The thresholds normally look at the sum of the last 15 days. Older points drop off automatically, so you need to keep participating to stay above a threshold.
Claiming airdrops with points
- Read each Alpha airdrop announcement: note the points threshold, claim window and points deducted per claim.
- Claim on the Alpha campaign page during the window. Many airdrops are first come, first served; some lower the threshold in stages.
- Tokens arrive in the relevant account. Prices swing hard after listing; selling is your decision.
- Claiming costs points. If you fall below a threshold you may miss the next airdrop, so plan which ones to claim.
Is farming worth it? A worked example
The core cost of farming is trading friction: to earn volume points you buy and sell on Alpha repeatedly, paying fees and slippage every round trip.
Example (illustrative numbers): buying 1,024 USDT a day of a stable pair and selling it again with 0.1% total friction costs about 1 USDT a day, or 15 USDT over 15 days. If you claim two airdrops worth $30 each in that time, it pays well; if airdrops are worth a few dollars or thresholds rise beyond you, it's a net loss.
Three things decide it:
- Your friction rate: liquid, price-stable pairs cost far less.
- Recent airdrop value and thresholds: thresholds move with participation, so recent rounds matter more than old ones.
- Your balance points: users with larger balances get many points without farming volume.
Risks
- Price risk: Alpha tokens can fall sharply; avoid holding volatile tokens overnight while farming.
- Rule changes: thresholds, scoring and airdrop sizes change; don't commit large funds based on old rules.
- Risk controls: abnormal wash trading can be flagged, resetting points or disqualifying you.

FAQ
Where can I see my Alpha Points?
On the Alpha page in the Binance app or in Binance Wallet, which show your current score and breakdown.
Do points expire?
Yes. Thresholds use the last 15 days; older points no longer count.
Does claiming an airdrop cost points?
Most Alpha airdrops deduct points when claimed; each announcement states how many.
Does competition volume count toward points?
Buy volume on Alpha generally counts toward volume points, so joining an Alpha competition also earns points, subject to the official rules.
